Chicago's original tapas bar, Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba, has been offering its authentic Spanish cuisine since 1985. You'll find a lively scene with paella, pitchers of sangria and Spanish tapas at this classic Chicago restaurant.
Pequod's Pizza is a hometown pizzeria that locals enjoy for its delicious deep-dish pizza and unique atmosphere. The original owner sold it in 1986 which ultimately led to its rebirth. Since then, new leadership has given new energy to the restaurant. They expanded the menu and added a savory thin crust pizza to the legendary pan pizza. Pequod's became one of Chicago's northwest suburb's best know secret for pizza as word-of-mouth popularity grew.
Located right in the heart of Lincoln Park is the Athenian Room. It's been serving Greek specialties such as juice-soaked fries and gyros since the 1970s.
Things to Do
The first thing on the to-do list is the Lincoln Park Zoo. This 35-acre zoo was founded in 1868. It's North America's fourth-oldest zoo and is one of the very few zoos in the U.S. that offers free admission.
Also located in Lincoln Park is North Avenue Beach. This is one of the most popular beaches in Chicago and features a popular and unique beach house containing 22,000 square feet of area that provides different features for everyone. This ocean liner-inspired, sleek building boasts one of the most amazing views in the city. It has portholes and upper decks for viewing the breathtaking horizon or the many walkers, runners, rollerbladers, and bikers moving down the lakefront trail.
Oz Park is a family-friendly favorite for parents as they gather up their preschoolers for a fun "Wizard of Oz" theme. Children can swing, climb, and run around "Dorothy's Playlot." Families can take a stroll through the park and stop at "Emerald Garden" to enjoy the colorful flowers. The children can then partake in organized activities like t-ball, soccer, and day camp.
After a fun day at North Avenue Beach or Oz Park, you may want to enjoy some barbecue and live band entertainment at the world-famous blues nightclub, Kingston Mines located in Lincoln Park.
